May, 1945

This day, May 9th, is celebrated as a 71st Victory Day. On May 1, 1945 the Victory flag has been hoisted at the Reichstag .  On May 2, after fierce fighting, the Soviet Army completely cleared the building. In the coming weeks, thousands of Soviet and allied soldiers signed the walls of the Reichstag.

The whole world is remembering May 1945. This was not the victory of one nation over another, one country over another. This — hopefully — was a victory of Peace over War. This is a day of remembrance…
